Title |
Anglo-Saxon copper alloy cruciform brooch |
||
Description |
English: An early Anglo-Saxon copper alloy cruciform brooch of Martin Group 2. Only the headplate survives. The headplate is rectangular, flat and was divided into three smaller panels by two vertically incised lines.The top knop is fully rounded, with a collar below and a tab at the front. The collar is decorated with a pair of incised lines running the circumference of the collar. The top knop was cast separately from the headplate. A single lug surrounded by iron corrosion is located in the centre of the reverse. The rest of the brooch is missing. |
