Title
Anglo-Saxon copper alloy cruciform brooch
Description
English: Fragment of an Anglo-Saxon copper-alloy cruciform brooch dating to the sixth century. Only part of the zoomorphic foot survives. In cross-section the fragment is arched and broken at either end. At the top the foot has a series of transverse ribs. The lower of these curves into the centre to form the forehead of the animal. Either side of this is a large pellet indicating the eyes. A shallow ridge runs down the centre of the snout to the break. On the reverse a small portion of the catchplate is visible at the top.
