Anglo-Saxon copper alloy cruciform brooch
Description
English: A copper alloy crucform brooch dating to the Anglo-Saxon period, circa AD 500-600. The brooch has a narrow rectangular head with a narrower rectangular wing to either side. At the top is an integral fully-rounded knop. The bow is arched and faceted in each corner. Transverse grooves define the top and bottom of a rectangular panel located beneath the bow. The terminal is in the form of an animal head. A lug for the pin is located behind the headplate. A catchplate is located behind the rectangular panel below the bow. The pin is missing.
