Title |
Anglo-Saxon copper alloy cruciform brooch |
||
Description |
English: A fragment of a cast copper alloy Anglo-Saxon cruciform brooch. Only the headplate survives, so there is a possibility that this is a small long brooch. The headplate is rectangular and divided into three smaller panels, the middle one being slightly raised. The would have been three integral side knops around the headplate but only one complete one and one half-complete one survives. The knops half-rounded with a narrowed waist and reeled collar. The brooch is missing below the headplate. On the reverse is an incomplete lug. |
