Title
Anglo-Saxon copper alloy cruciform brooch
Description
English: Incomplete copper alloy cruciform brooch dating to the Anglo-Saxon period, circa 6th century AD. Only the upper half of the brooch remains. The headplate is rectangular and divided into three smaller rectangular panels. The central one is proud of the ones either side. The perimeter of each panel is decorated with a row of punched ring and dot motifs. There are three collared side knops located one on each side. These knops are half-rounded and have been cast integrally with the brooch. The bow is arched and faceted, and broken at the base. The reverse of the headplate contains two integral lugs to support the pin. The pin is missing but there is iron corrosion around the lugs.
