Title
Anglo-Saxon ansate BROOCH
Description
English: Small and battered copper-alloy ansate brooch. One end, together with the catchplate, is missing. The other end is irregularly rounded and probably very worn; on the reverse is a double pin bar lug which is broken through both lugs. There does not appear to be any decoration at the angle between this end and the bow, although there is a transverse notched ridge at the highest part of the bow. The break comes at the other end of the top of the bow; it is patinated but completely unworn, so probably quite recent. The surviving dimensions are 24 x 6.5 mm, and the original length was probably only around 34 mm.
