Description

L'Hôpital Saint_jean.

Jardin médiéval à côté du musée Jean Lurçat.

Ce jardin médiéval organisé en “carrés” entourés par des plessis (palissade de branchages de saule et de châtaignier) est composé : du jardin vivrier ou hortus (potager) servant à l’alimentation. C’est le lieu où l’on cultive les herbes et les racines. du jardin bouquetier regroupant les plantes servant à la confection des bouquets du jardin médicinal ou herbularius ou jardin de simples, du nom des plantes médicinales utilisées pour soigner les malades. Souvent situé à proximité de l’infirmerie, il était composé de «carrés» où les plantes étaient agencées selon leur usage médical. Ce jardin est une création récente (2007).

This medieval garden organized in "squares" surrounded by plessis (fence of branches of willow and chestnut) is composed of:

the food garden or "hortus". It is the place where is grown herbs and roots.

the flower garden gathering the plants used for making bouquets

the medicinal or "herbularius" garden or herb garden. Often located close to the hospital, it was composed of "square" where the plants were arranged according to their medical use.

This garden is a recent creation (2007).
