blet. In the catalogue of the year 1782, the nameagain appears as follows, De Villebrune. After this period theceafed to exhibit. REMSDYKE. A native of Holland, who painted portraits, but with no greatexcellence. He was for fome time at Briftol, but his chief employmentwas in drawing natural hiftory and anatomy, in which l^ft-mentioned department he was much employed by Dr. WilliamHunter, and moft of the plates of the gravid uterus wereengraved from his drawings. This artift was living in 1778, and it is not known when hedied. He had a fon who followed the profeffion of the father, andobtained fome premiums from the Society for the Encourage-ment of Arts, &c. but his abilities as an artift were not verypowerful. Thefe artifts, in conjunction, publifhed a volume of naturalhiftory, which was drawn and etched from original objects inthe Britilh Mufeum; the title, Mufeum Britannicum, &c. byJohn and Andrew Remfdyke, folio, printed for Moore, Charles-ftreet, St. Jamess-fquare, 1778.

A landfcape painter, who was born in Dublin *, but went earlyto Rome, where he ftudied fome time under Mr. Richard Wil-fon, who was then in that city. This perfons progrefs in art, was greatly impeded by themelancholy ftate of his health, for, at the age of fifteen, hehad an epileptic feizure, which materially injured his form : hehad no return of this complaint until fifteen years afterwards,when in the Barbarini palace at Rome, he fell down in a fecondfit from a fcaffold, on which he was elevated, to copy apicture; from this time, his fits continued at intervals, untilthe fatal one, which put a period to his exiftence. He died inLondon in the early part of the year 1779- He was of a remarkably good temper, and raoft excellentcharacter. His pictures are not very numerous, but there are fome in theRoyal Collection. He alfo executed many drawings in blackand white chalks, upon a blue-grey Roman paper. JOHANNES EGIDIUS E
