English: WIPO Director General Daren Tang (right) received on February 9, 2021 the instrument of accession of Lithuania to the Nairobi Treaty on the Protection of the Olympic Symbol.
The instrument of accession, signed by Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda, was delivered by Ambassador Andrius Krivas (left), Permanent Representative of the Republic of Lithuania to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva. Lithuania becomes the 53rd contracting party to the Nairobi Treaty. All States party to the Nairobi Treaty are under the obligation to protect the Olympic symbol – five interlaced rings – against use for commercial purposes (in advertisements, on goods, as a mark, etc.) without the authorization of the International Olympic Committee.
