Andrew Johnson's Tailor Shop

The site protects Andrew Johnson's original Tailor Shop. In this small building, Johnson paid people to read to him while he worked. Local residents and students gathered here to debate, and his peers encouraged Andrew Johnson to run for office. When he was elected alderman of Greeneville, his journey to the White House had begun.
