Summary
[edit]DescriptionAndermatt - Fort Bühl (9533289014).jpg |
English: A logistics base of the army (LBA). This is the official entrance at 1430 m. ü. M. (4691 ft ASL). In the rocks on the left side, old camouflages are recognizable. The war-barracks Bühl in the background was completed in 1902 and had a connection to the fort. A few years ago, a new climbing crag was built into the barracks for soldiers. Civilians can it also use at certain times. The whole plant consists mainly of four larger parts which are connected with each other. One part is the historic artillery fort Bühl, which is no longer used. Another part is a connection to an external installation that has been shut down and converted for another use. A third plant dates back to the Second World War and is actually outdated. But it is now used as location for a modern technical infrastructure which is still under construction. That part had in the 1970s also the unofficial designation as 'Bundesratsbunker'. The fourth part is a leadership bunker from 1980 which was renewed and is still in operation. Probably there is also a subterranean connection to a fifth old plant on the mountain where there was once a ropeway, but I'm not sure. A door up there is labeled with 'TW'. Because of the connections between old and new parts, it is not possible to visit disused parts. One of the most complex structures of old and new that is still used today by the army.
