n aponeurotic canal formed in the fascialata, becomes superficial about four inches below Pouparts ligament, and dividesinto branches, which are distributed to the integument along the anterior andouter part of the thigh, as far down as the knee. This nerve occasionally com-municates with the long saphenous nerve. The posterior branch pierces the fascia lata, and subdivides into brancheswhich pass across the outer and posterior surface of the thigh, supplying theintegument in this region as far as the middle of the thigh. The Obturator Nerve supplies the Obturator externus and Adductor musclesof the thigh, the articulations of the hip and knee, and occasionally the integu-ment of the thigh and leg. It arises by two branches; one from the third, theother from the fourth lumbar nerve. It descends through the inner fibres of thePsoas muscle, and emerges from its inner border near the brim of the pelvis; itthen runs along the lateral wall of the pelvis, above the obturator vessels, to the

The anterior branch passes down in front of the Adductor brevis, beingcovered by the Pectineus and Adductor longus; and at the lower border of thelatter muscle, communicates with the internal cutaneous and internal saphenousnerves, forming a kind of plexus. It then descends upon the femoral artery, upon which it is finally distributed. This nerve, near the obturator foramen, gives off an articular branch to thehip-joint. Behind the Pectineus, it distributes muscular branches to the Adductorlongus and Gracilis, and occasionally to the Adductor brevis and Pectineus, andreceives a communicating branch from the accessory obturator nerve. Occasionally this communicating branch is continued down, as a cutaneous branch,to the thigh and leg; emerging from the lower border of the Adductor longus, itdescends along the post
