The superficial lymphatics of the penis occupy the sides and dorsum of theorgan, the latter receiving the lymphatics from the skin covering the glans penis;they all converge to the upper chain of the superficial inguinal glands. The deep, lymphatic vessels of the penis follow the course of the internal pudic vessels, andjoin the internal iliac glands. OF THE PELVIS AND ABDOMEN. 459 In the female, the lymphatic vessels of the mucous membrane of the labia, nymphse, and clitoris, terminate in the upper chain of the inguinal lymphaticglands. The deep lymphatics of the pelvis and abdometi take the course of the principalblood-vessels. They receive the deep epigastric, circumflex iliac, and ilio-lumbar lymphatics. 460 LYMPHATICS The lymphatics of the bladder arise from the entire surface of the organ; thegreater number run beneath the peritoneum on its posterior surface, and, afterpassing through the lymphatic glands in this situation, join with the lymphaticsfrom the prostate and vesiculse seminales, and enter the internal iliac glands. The lymphatics of the rectum are of large size; after passing through somesmall glands that lie upon its outer wall and in the meso-rectum, they pass to thesacral or lumbar glands. The lymphatics of the uterus consist of two sets, superficial and deep; theformer being placed beneath the peritoneum, the latter in the su
