Its posterior third is covered by the Gluteus maximus; itsanterior two-thirds are covered by the fascia lata, which separates it from theintegument. By its superfi-cial surface, with the Gluteusmaximus behind, the Tensorvaginge femoris, and deep fas-cia in front. By its deepsurface, with the Gluteus mi-nimus and the gluteal vesselsand nerve. Its anterior bor-der is blended with the Glu-teus minimus. Its posteriorborder lies parallel with thePyriformis, the gluteal ves-sels intervening. This muscle should now bedivided near its insertion andturned upwards, when the Glu-teus minimus will be exposed. The Gluteus 3Iinimus, thesmallest of the three glutei,is placed immediately beneaththe preceding.
