Description
English: The Analostan Condominium located at 1718 Corcoran Street, NW in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The Analostan Flats, as it was originally called, was designed by noted architect George S. Cooper in 1891 and named after Analostan Island. Completed in 1892, the Analostan featured eight apartments (two on each floor; maid's quarters on the fifth floor). The building was considered a prestigious address for several decades, but by 1960 it had fallen into disrepair and was later abandoned. In 1977, the Analostan was renovated and converted into a 26-unit condominium. It's now a contributing property to the Dupont Circle Historic District and is considered one of the neighborhood's best examples of Queen Anne architecture.
