p Sir Edward Smirke has shewn from the accounts published in the Win-chester volumes of the Archaeological Institute, 8vo., 1845, that this hallwas built between 1222 and 1235, but the original windows were lancetsonly, as may be seen on the northern side, where some of the jambs re-main in the wall.
