Title
An incomplete silver coin, probably a Post-Medieval sixpence of Elizabeth I.
Description
English: An incomplete silver coin, probably a Post-Medieval sixpence of Elizabeth I, AD 1558-1603. Only approximately one quarter of the flan survives. What does remain of this coin is extremely worn, bent with a crack running across it and and has had all tarnish cleaned off of it.. As such very little of what is probably the lower left side of a 'crowned bust left' is barely visible in raking light. The obverse legend reads: [...]G'.[...]. On the reverse surface only one arm of a long cross fourchee is visible. It is likely that the long cross fourchee rested over a now illegible royal shield. The reverse legend reads: [...]IVTORE. The die axis is probably approximately 9 o'clock. Weight is 0.82g, the broken straight egdes of the coin measure 15.6mm x 16.5mm and the fragment has a thickness of 0.6mm.
