Description |
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy dirk, dating to the Middle Bronze Age, between 1500 – 1150 BC. The artefact is sub-leaf shaped in plan and lozenge shape in cross-section. The object consists of part of the blade and the tang both of which have broken before they terminate. One half of a rivet hole can be seen at the end of the tang. The tang is rectangular in cross-section and flat. Three faint raised ribs can be seen on the blade. The blade can be classified according to the blade cross-section as Group IV, with a flattened mid-section, p204, Renfrew, (1974). The object has a mid-green patina. |
