Description |
English: An incomplete Post Medieval cast iron knife (16th century). This is a whittle-tanged, single-edged knife. The tang is orientated central to the blade with straight shoulders. The blade has a triangular cross-section with a broad back and single cutting edge. Along one side of the blade there are double grooves extending down the length of the blade just below the broad back. There is no maker’s mark visible. The iron is in good condition with very little rust. Parts of the blade are missing, mainly from the cutting edge and the tang is bent to one side, no longer aligned with the blade.
