Title
An incomplete Medieval papal bulla of indecipherable Pope.
Description
English: An incomplete Medieval lead alloy, papal bulla of indiscernible Pope (c. 1100 -1500?).

The bulla is now approximately half of the original size and is roughly semi-circular in shape. It has broken vertically along the centre, where the string or cord would have been fastened through the interior. It is grey white in colour.

The obverse bears the image of Saint Paul with a long pointed beard and hair swept back from the forehead, Saint Peter who would have been depicted facing him, is missing. The pelleted border is clear on the obverse, as is the pelleted surround of Saint Paul, however it is slightly obscured by the central break. The only decipherable inscription is a 'S' above the right of Saint Paul's head, the rest of the inscription has been destroyed.

The reverse is badly damaged, although the pelleted border is still visible in part. A circular section of this face appears to have been forced outwards and has created a semi-circular protrusion. The inscription is difficult to read, but what remains reads [ ]IIS / [ ] M.

It measures 36.4 mm in length, 20.2 mm wide, 5.6 mm thick and weighs 23.26 g.
