Charles De la Fossewas born in 1721 anddied in 1790. His designsare somewhat heavyin character, wreathsbeing thrown overarticles, giving thema clumsy look. Inthe designs of somesmaller articles, suchas fire-dogs, hangingclocks, etc., however, he shows great taste. Lalonde published a great many designs for furniture, and I have shown a number of them, as they are thoroughly representativeof what was in vogue during the latter half of the 18th century. Salembier designed a great deal of ornament ofa very light and elegant description. I have shown a few of these also. 384 Louis XVI, CANDLESTICKS BY LALONDE. Late 18th Century
