Two Designs for Doors. factories has a nationalinterest which cannotattach to the productsof the other establish-ments, the famousJeux dEnfants, byCorneille, in the Louvre,Paris, being quotedas a specimen of thehigh-class work thathad been produced inthe 17th century by theAubusson workmen.As regards the Felletintapestries, also knownas Auvergne tap-estries, the factoryseems to have been infull swing during thewhole of the i6th and17th centuries. In aninventory of the year1514 there occurs adescription of twenty-two pieces of tapestryof Felletin. It appearsthat about the middleof the 17th century thetapestries of Felletinwere not much valued,and the low price theyfetched was one of thereasons why this factorywas gradually eclipsedby the greater fame ofAubusson. To-day thename of Felletin ishardly known, whilethat of Aubusson isjustly celebrated. Manyambitious attempts havebeen made in variouscountries to establishtapestry weaving.
