English: An enclosure reverts to moorland Around the edges of the Black Mountain are numerous examples of land having been enclosed at some point in the past, legally or otherwise, and later being reclaimed by the moor with only low earth and stone banks remaining on show. This is marginal land at the best of times, drainage, altitude and thin soils all conspiring against any living to be made from it. |
