Description
Deutsch: Detail eines der denkmalgeschützten, nachts von unten illuminierten Epithaphen an der Nikolaikapelle in Hannover, die im Zuge der innerstädtischen Umbaumaßnahmen Hannover City 2020 + umgestaltet wurde. Durch die Anstrahlung durch einen Bodenfluter und den durch Licht und Schatten verstärkt sichtbare Reliefstruktur wurde hier beinahe erstmals die Inschrift (mit allen Rechtschreibfehlern der damaligen Zeit) auch aus der Ferne lesbar:

„Ruhe städte / vor / Hinrich Schloo, Kauff und / Handelßmann auch Diaconus der / Kirche St: Jacobi et Georgii in Hannover. / Gebohren in Hamburg den 19ten Julii Anno 1707 / Gestorben d: 13: Dec: 1783 Mt 76 Jahr 4 M: 3 W / und Frau Anna Katharina Maria Elisabeth / Schlooen gebohrene Bodenstabs gebohren / in Hannover den 28ten Julii Anno 1718. / Gestorben, den 22ten May 1779 in einenn / Alter vonn 77. Jahr 9 Mon: und 25. Tage.“

Oberhalb der Inschrift ist eine geflügelte Putte zu sehen, die die Inschrift wie ein kostbares Grabtuch in den Händen hält. Darunter wirkt ein menschlicher Totenkopf als Symbol für die Vergänglichkeit des Lebens ...
