The case represented on Plate 62 is thatof a polytechnic student suffering from spinal irritation. Thislatter is so intense that the patient can not beai the slightest press-ure on the spinal column; he wears no overcoat in the coldestwinter, because he can not endure the weight of that garment.Other symptoms are abnormal sensations in the legs, very frequentdesire to urinate, fullness of the head, loss of memory, and psychi-cal irritability. Patient formerly masturbated excessively. Laterhe caught gonorrhoea, which became chronic, and, on examinationof the urine, we und daily semen in the urine, once in the formof Plate 62—shreds, in which lymph-cells and seminal threads areagglomerated in large masses by a glutinous substance; at othertimes in the form of Plate 53—gonorrhoeal threads impregnatedwith spermatozoids. On taking this drop between the lingers, itgives a fatty, soapy sensation; otherwise it resembles the semen. These drops, which, under the microscope, represent pure seminalfluid, pass occasionally, but rarely, at the heginning of the stool, when the abdominal pressure commences; but generally they ap-pear at the close, when the final contractions are made by thesphincter ani, and thereby the seminal vesicles compressed. Inrare instances this seminal fluid passes some time after the comple-tion of the stool, and when the patient is alrea
