EXAMINATION OF THE URINE. 99 ascertained, by frequent examination witli the microscope dm-ing awliole year, entire recovery in a case of spermatorrhoea resultingfrom onanism. This patient now acquired a shght gonorrhcea, and,in consequence, the spermatorrhoea reappeared. We may safely establish the doctrine that gonorrhoea alone cannot cause spermatorrhoea unless by previous abuse the sexual sys-tem had been weakened. Plate 54 is the microscopic picture of the so-called goutte mili-taire, a small, grayish-white plug which, on rising in the morning,is found to close the mouth of the urethra. The mucus is but slightly represented, while the cellular ele-ments, especially epithelium, are in great preponderance. Theform of the epithelium leads us to judge that the seat of the dis-ease is far back, partly implicating even the neck of the bladder. The importance of this gleet is not to be despised.
