An Iron Age gold stater of Dubnovellaunos, dating to the 1st century BC.
Description
English: Two Iron Age gold staters, dating 30 BC - AD 14. Coin 1 is an Eastern type of Dubnovellaunos, coin 2 is a South-Eastern type of the same ruler.

Coin 1: Obverse: Two opposed crescents with pellet-in-ring on either side. Band of three lines with row of pellets in between leading to the edges of the coin, terminating in a pellet-in-ring motif.

Reverse: Horse leaping left with palm leaf below. Two pellet-in-ring motifs below and one above. Inscription is illegible, with traces of the end indicating [DVBNOVALLAVN]OS.

Dimensions: diameter: 19.39 mm; weight: 5.35g

Coin 2: Obverse: Plain

Reverse: Horse leaping right. Pellet-in-ring motif above and wheel below. Sun to the right. Inscription is illegible but would have read [DVBNOV].
