Summary

[edit]
Description

Also known as the Western Marsh Harrier, these are large birds of prey that are predominantly found near wetlands or border marshlands. i.e. the areas around the river or lake banks where there are some kind of water birds. There are several pictures of this bird hunting egrets, herons, ducks and other small water birds - whether it was successful in the kill or not is unknown. The bird also hunts small birds, reptiles like lizards, frogs and small mammals like voles and rats. This is a winter visitor to the Subcontinent coming from Europe, and central Asia.
