Title |
An Early Medieval buckle. |
||
Description |
English: A Medieval copper alloy buckle, dating AD 1300-1500. The buckle is D-shaped with a thick frame on the curved section and a thin bar onto which the pin is attached. The pin is formed of a copper alloy stip, which has been folded at one end to form a loop and tapering at the other end. There are a series of ridges on the outer edge of the frame for decoration.
No exact parallels have been found, but the form is similar to buckles that date to 14th-15th centuries. Similar examples can be found on the PAS database (cf. BH-46EEA3). Dimensions: length: 24.62 mm; width: 19.68 mm; thickness: 5.27 mm; weight: 5.17g. |
