An Early Medieval (Anglo Saxon) silver sceat dating AD675-750.

English: An Early Medieval (Anglo Saxon) silver sceat dating AD675-750.

Martin Allen writes: This is an excellent example of Series L (Type 23e). Other specimens of this type have been found in the Thames at Lambeth and at Tilbury, and your find provides further evidence to support the suggestion that these coins may have been minted in London, although they are found elsewhere in England.
