Summary

[edit]
Description
English: An Cheathrú Rua. A tiny harbour used for lobster fishing; the name is anglicised as Carraroe and means 'the Reddish-Brown Quarter'. ("Quarter" here is a fairly frequently encountered term in names of Irish townlands, supposedly being a quarter of a larger unit of 480 Irish acres. Thanks to Tom Pullman for this information.)
