In the writersexperience the most frequent change is that from oxalate of lime to the 412 VESICAL CALCULUS. amorphous phosphates and back again: this particular form of phosphaticdeposit is that which, when it is persistent and excessive, is one of the moreconspicuous symptoms of the condition to which the name of phosphaturiahas been given. In this disease the urine is already neutral or alkaline whensecreted in the kidneys. The condition is quite distinct from that of thealkaline decomposition of the urine in the bladder, which is due to localcauses, and in which the large clear crystals of the ammonio-magnesic ortriple phosphates are seen.
