English: AN AFSHARID MANUSCRIPT OF QUR'ANIC VERSES

SIGNED MUHAMMAD HASHIM, IRAN, DATED AH 1179/1765-66 AD

Comprising Quran XXXVI, sura ya-sin, Qur'an LVI, sura al-waqi'ah, Qur'an LXVII, sura al-mulk and Qur'an,LXXVIII, sura al-naba', Arabic manuscript on blue paper, 13ff. plus 3 fly-leaves, each folio with 13ll. of elegant gold naskh, gold verse roundels, sura headings in clouds on a blue hatched ground, text panels within gold and polychrome rules, the opening bifolio with a gold and polychrome illuminated floral headpiece, the heading in blue ink in cloud reserved against hatched ground, the margins with gold and polychrome scrolling floral vine, the colophon signed Muhammad Hashim, dated 1179, stating it was copied from a manuscript by Ahmad al-Nayrizi, in 19th century floral lacquer binding
