Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Zahra Mahmoodi, a right midfielder for the Afghan national women’s soccer team, thanks Burke, Va., native Caitlin Fenton for coordinating the donation of more than 1,100 items of soccer gear to Kabul area girls’ soccer players during a computer phone call at International Security Assistance Force Headquarters, March 10. After seeing the lack of soccer equipment for the girls’ teams in Kabul, Caitlin’s mother, U.S. Air Force Col. AnneMarie Fenton sought assistance from her daughter to help the Afghan girls. Caitlin, an eighth grader who plays fullback for her Springfield-South County Youth Club girls soccer team Xplosion in Springfield, Va., reached out to her fellow soccer players as well as local businesses to coordinate the donations. She will reunite with her mother, who serves as the director for ISAF and U.S. Forces Afghanistan Joint Visitors’ Bureau, later this month when she returns home from Afghanistan.
