| Description | The powerhouse Amsteg belongs to the SBB and was put into operation for the electrification of the Gotthard route in 1922. For the construction and operation of the Gotthard Base Tunnel it had to be completely renewed in the nineties. The energy production increased threefold. This series of pictures show the supply of traction current to the Gotthard Base Tunnel from the power plant via the new cable tunnel. For the power plant itself, there are public viewings.
