Español: Ánfora de los tiranicidas, del Pintor de Berlín. Ática, 480 a. C. Altura= 34 cm. Anchura= 18 cm. Diámetro de la boca= 12,7 cm. Representa el gesto heroico de los tiranicidas, Harmodio y Aristogitón, quienes en el año 514 a. C. dieron muerte a Hiparco, hermano del tirano ateniense Hipias. Ambos fueron apresados y ejecutados. Tras el derrocamiento de Hipias, la democracia recién estrenada los convirtió en héroes de la libertad. Su gesto legendario quedó esculpido en piedra en el ágora de Atenas. English: Amphora of the Tyrannicides by Berlin Painter. Attica, 480 BC. Height= 34 cm. Width= 18 cm. Diameter of the mouth= 12,7 cm. It depict the heroic fealt of the Tyrannicides, Harmodius and Aristogeiton slay Hipparchus, brother of the athenian tyrant Hippias. Both are caught and executed. After Hippias is overthrown, the newly established democratic government makes them heroes of freedom. Their legendary feat is inmortalised in stone in the Agora of Athens. |
