No valid objection can be raised to the use of wateras a seal in this apparatus, since the determination of the water vapor-ized by the dog was not attempted; furthermore, the possibility of theabsorption of carbon dioxide by the small surface of water exposed isso slight that it cannot seriously affect the results.
