The Doc-tor notices that its swimming bladder is convertible intogood glue, and adds in his characteristic manner, I haveeaten as fine blanc mange from it as from the isinglass of thesturgeon. In the paper of Humphrey Jackson which I have quoted,it is stated it is now no longer a secret that our lakes andrivers in North America arc stocked with immense quanti-ties of fish, said to be of the same species with those inMuscovy,and yielding the finest isinglass; the fisheries where-of, if duly encouraged, would doubtless supply all Europewith this valuable article. It is further said, that in con-sequence of public advertisements distributed in variousparts of North America offering premiums for the sounds ofsturgeon and other fish, for the purpose of making isinglass,several specimens of fine isinglass, the produce offish takenin those parts, have lately been sent to England, with properattestations as to the unlimited quantity which may be pro-cured.
