Everything thatis good and fine has been left as it was and will be left, thechanges looking only for the betterment and the enhancing ofthe natural beauties of this fine old place. Words are but poor vehicles with which to describe thislovely place; nor are photographs much better. The latterdo, indeed, give true impression of particular objects, of thehouse and its rooms, of groups of trees and glimpses ofnatural beauty; but to appreciate its loveliness as a wholethe place must be seen, for only in this way can the wholeof it be appreciated as it should. This is no estatewhose salient features are to be comprehended within asingle sweep of the eye, much as the merest glance maytell; but it is a property to be lost in—and it is almost largeenough for that.
