The ceiling candelabra are likewise old Italian, and directly from the center hangsa full-rigged Dutch ship, a metal model at least a hundred and fifty years old. The stairs atthe liack of the studio lead to the billiard-room above. Beyond are a dark-room, a gun-room,a bic\cle-room, and a fjathroom, connected with the squash court. The rose garden is just beyond the porch at the back It is alwut sixty feet square, andfills the space enclosed by the wings of the house. In the center is a graceful fountain: the walksare of brick, box lined—a lovely and beautiful spot of flowers. The pergola stretches back from it on either side full two hundred feet; bounded onthe outer edge with a low brick wall, above which rise short square piers
