Accordingly, aships bell was purchased for $3.50, andit was anchored high above the archwaylike an electric light fixture. Itsbeautifully cut hanging pendants, thatflash with iridescent coloring when thelights are on, is reminiscent of the dayswhen grand dames in powdered wigsand beauty patches, and debonairgentlemen in periwigs, velvet knicker-bockers and buckled shoes, danced thestately minuet under its cr^^stal light-ing,— candle light, if you please. Elec-tric lamps have replaced the wax can-dles, of course. To carry out the Colonial effect in thedining room the artist again called uponhis originality to provide the motif.He, therefore, modelled his coat-of-armsin plaster-of-Paris on a large woodenplaque. This he took to a brass foundryas a model for a candelabra to be cast inbronze and brass.
