NATURAL BOULDER FOR FOUNTAIN 670 AMERICAN COOKERY for a song in an old Knickerbockermansion that was being demolished tomake room for a skyscraper. Itsbeautifully cut hanging pendants, thatflash with iridescent coloring when thelights are on, is reminiscent of the dayswhen grand dames in powdered wigsand beauty patches, and debonairgentlemen in periwigs, velvet knicker-bockers and buckled shoes, danced thestately minuet under its cr^^stal light-ing,— candle light, if you please. Elec-tric lamps have replaced the wax can-dles, of course. To carry out the Colonial effect in thedining room the artist again called uponhis originality to provide the motif.He, therefore, modelled his coat-of-armsin plaster-of-Paris on a large woodenplaque. This he took to a brass foundryas a model for a candelabra to be cast inbronze and brass.
