The room which, at any other time ofthe year, is the dining room connectedwith the cooking laboratories of the col-lege, is paneled high with oaken wains-coting, which seems mellowed and dark-ened from its centuries of use in someancestral hall. Tiled floors and casementwindows perfect the details. The fur-nishings of the room are severe andsombre with occasional bits of brilliantcolor. Long, low wooden benches areplaced against the walls under the case-ment windows; a curious old sideboard,decorated in fantastic designs, holds bitsof old pewter and wooden bowls. Thebanquet table is of course the mostprominent feature and this completesthe furnishings. Tall groups of whitecandles, placed at intervals, light theroom dimly and fill it with movingshadows.
