This beautifulstone, it is said, is lodged in the Cabinet of Arts, at Philadel-phia. It is supposed the stone was formed for astronomical calculations, conveying a knowledge of the movements of the heav-enly bodies. Jl Cavern of the West, in which are found many interestingHieroglyphics, supposed to have been made by the AncientInhabitants. On the Ohio, twenty miles below the mouth of the Wabash, isa cavern, in which are found many hieroglyphics, and represen-tations of such delineations as would induce the belief that theirauthors were, indeed, comparatively refined and civilized. It isa cave in a rock, or ledge of the mountain, which presents itselfto view, a little above the water of the river, when in flood, and issituated close to the bank. Wilson, in the first place, brought his family to thiscave, and fitted it up as a spacious dwelling ; erected a sign-poston the water side, on which were these words: Wilsons LiquorVault, and House of Entertainment. The novelty of such a ta-vern induced almost all the boats descending the river to call forrefreshments and amusement. Attracted by these circumstances,several idle characters took up their abode at the cave, after whichit continually resounded with the shouts of the licentious, the cla-mor of the riotous, and the blasphemy of gamblers.
