Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Bas relief designed by John Carlin (a deaf artist from New York) and sculpted by Mr. Argenti in 1854 for the south panel of the original Gallaudet monument at the American School for the Deaf, West Hartford, Connecticut. This sculpture depicts Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet teaching children the manual alphabet.[1] The monument itself was accidentally destroyed; this panel was saved and remains on display at the American School for the Deaf.
