| Description | Built in 1948, this Art Moderne-style fraternal order hall was built in response to the large population of returning veterans from World War II whom lived in the Latonia area at the time. The building features a light orange brick exterior, stepped parapet, concrete base, replacement windows, an entryway flanked by curved brick walls with the words “We Honor Those Who Served That Democracy May Live” engraved in a curved stone panel above the door, a stone American Legion Seal above the front entrance, as well as the seals of various United States Armed Forces branches on the parapet flanking the front entrance, a basement bowling alley, various drink company signs, including a Pabst Blue Ribbon and Coca-Cola sign, a lobby with a linoleum floor, short staircase with decorative metal railings, a large plaque with the honor roll of the war dead of Kenton County from World War I, and concrete block walls, and a bar inside the building. The building stands on the corner of the site of the former Latonia Race Track, which operated from 1883 until 1939, and is the oldest remaining building on the site of the former race track. |
