English: American Embassy Representative Opens New Youth Hostel- Life at Burgage Manor Youth Hostel, Southwell, Nottinghamshire, England, UK, 1944
Mr and Mrs Barnes, wardens of the new youth hostel at Burgage Manor, Southwell, greet Mr and Mrs Leslie Walters (centre) upon arrival at the hostel. The original caption states that Mr Walters is a coal miner from Nottingham and that he and his wife first met at a youth hostel. The notice on the front door announces the official opening of the hostel on Saturday 22 July 1944 at 5pm. It also states that "Visitors are invited to join a Conducted Inspection of the Hostel following the Opening", and that there will be "photography by Ministry of Information".
