The Orientals, with the sole exception of the Japanese, invariablymutilate the dead foe, and often the living one as well. It is not a matter somuch of creed as of race, for the Christian Abyssinians are just as guilty ofthis cruelty as the Chinese, the Malays, the Afghans, and the Moors.
