Description

Amboise (Indre-et-Loire)

Inside the tower, a spiral ramp access allows teams of small and medium size up to the castle.

Several distinguished guests made their entrance, like the Emperor Charles V in 1539.

When the kings of France abandoned the castle in the late sixteenth century, the tower is converted into prison. Prisoners were left graffiti in Flemish, Italian, Spanish.

The tower will serve as a prison until the late 19th century.

From 1848 to 1852, the Emir Abd El Kader will be imprisoned. 25 members of his entourage were also buried in a Muslim section inside the castle.
