Summary

[edit]
Description June 10, 2021. Life for residents in the underserved settlement of Sattala in Dhaka was slowly improving after being hit by COVID-19. Then, on June 7, tragedy struck when a fire ravaged 720 homes, 264 of which were recipients of the USAID funded urban food assistance program, implemented by World Food Programme and BRAC. Ambassador Miller visited the victims with Dhaka North City Corporation officials and heard from them how they are fighting back with support from the government and other partners. USAID will continue to provide beneficiaries of this low-income area monthly cash-based food assistance and cashback incentives based on the purchase of healthy foods.
