Description
Deutsch: Die " Alten Süderelbe " im Süden von Hamburg-Finkenwerder war bis zur Sturmflut 1962 ein Arm der Elbe und Finkenwerder war eine Insel. Nach der Stumfluß wurde dieser Arm durch neue Deiche von der Elbe abgeschnitten und ist heute mehr ein See als Fluss, der im westlichen Teil Naturschutzgebiet ist.
English: The "Alte Süderelbe" south of Hamburg-Finkenwerder was a branch of the Elbe river until the storm flood 1962. Finkenwerder was an island at that time. After the storm flood new dikes have been built and the "Alte Süderelbe" was cut from the Elbe river. It is now more a lake than a river. The western part is nature reserve.
